Accessibility statement
Last updated 15 October 2026
We want everyone who speaks at or works on an event to be able to use the Content Portal, including disabled people.
AEGFX LTD aims for the portal to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1 at level AA, and to make reasonable adjustments for anyone who needs them under the Equality Act 2010.
What you should be able to do
- Use every part of the portal with a keyboard alone
- Zoom in up to 400% and use it on a phone without content being cut off or needing to scroll sideways
- Use a screen reader or voice control. Buttons, form fields and panels have proper names
- Read text that has enough contrast against its background, including in the event’s own brand colours, which the portal darkens automatically where needed
- Upload files with a button as well as by dragging and dropping
- Read check reports in plain English, with the technical detail kept separate under “Tell me more”
- Turn off animation by setting reduced motion on your device
- Take as long as you need. Pages don’t time out while you are filling them in
Your device can also help. AbilityNet’s My Computer My Way explains how to make it easier to use if you have a disability.
How accessible the portal is
The portal is partially compliant with WCAG 2.1 AA. Automated checks found no failures after the fixes listed below, but it has not yet been tested end to end with screen readers by disabled users, so we can’t yet say it is fully compliant.
We know about these limitations.
- The speaker page is a working prototype. Its layout and wording may still change, and we will test it again before it is used for a live event
- The portal has not yet been tested end to end with screen readers such as NVDA, JAWS and VoiceOver. We plan to do this before the speaker page goes live
- The portal currently has a light appearance only. A dark version is planned. Your browser or operating system’s high contrast settings still work
- Some panels use a frosted glass effect behind the text. Text contrast is measured against the actual background, but some people may still find these areas harder to read. Tell us if that affects you
- Presentations, videos and other files uploaded by speakers are their own content. We check them for technical problems, not for accessibility, so we can’t guarantee that slides shown at an event are accessible
If you have a problem
If you can’t use part of the portal, or need information in a different format, email [email protected]. Tell us what you were trying to do and what happened. We will reply within 5 working days.
You never have to use the portal to take part in an event. The technical team can upload your files for you from an email or a memory stick, enter your details for you and record anything you need on the day. Ask the event organiser or the technical team.
Enforcement
If you are not happy with how we respond, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service on 0808 800 0082. In Northern Ireland contact the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland.
How we tested
We last tested the portal on 15 October 2026. We tested
- the sign-in and password screens
- every section of the event admin view, including Events, Overview, Stages / Rooms, Sessions, Speakers, Team, Import and Accounts
- every tab of the speaker page and its file panel
- these legal pages
Each page was checked with the axe-core 4.14 automated checker against WCAG 2.1 A and AA, at desktop width and at a phone width of 390 pixels. We also checked keyboard order and focus by hand, including opening and closing the slide-over panels.
What we fixed
- Darkened the main blue, green, amber and red and the grey secondary text so they all reach at least 4.5 to 1 contrast
- Event brand colours that are too light are now darkened automatically before they are used for text or buttons
- Set the page language so screen readers pronounce text correctly
- Added page landmarks and named the navigation, so screen reader users can jump between areas
- Slide-over panels now move focus into the panel when they open, return it when they close and can’t be reached by keyboard while closed
- Gave names to controls that didn’t have them, such as the organisation and agency settings on the Accounts page and the updates button
- Toggle buttons now say whether they are selected, and sign-in errors are announced as they appear
- Made wide tables on these pages scrollable by keyboard
What we are doing next
We will test with screen readers before the speaker page goes live, test again whenever a major feature is added and review this statement at least once a year.
